How do you live in the collapse? More importantly, how the hell do you make a queer cabaret fantasy about it?
Fresh from their Adelaide Cabaret Festival premiere, join HOUSE OF ROT co-creators Dino Dimitriadis and Victoria Falconer for a deep dive into their process of creating an experimental cabaret inspired (loosely, dangerously) by Grey Gardens.
This dynamic duo will share dramaturgical insights, collaborative processes and inspirations they drew on to create an original new work, unpacking the conception and creation of a song-cycle performance that balances live action, music and film.
They will unveil how they drew inspiration from a cult and queer classic documentary, used devising techniques to bring their work to life, and balanced decisions around a range of technical elements.
This is an exciting opportunity to hear about Dino’s practice, which centres queer performance, trans dramaturgies and intersectional storytelling, alongside Victoria’s experience as an award-winning music director, multi-instrumentalist, cabaret artist and theatre-maker who pushes boundaries in every role she takes on. And yes, we’ll end with a Q&A!
Come peek behind the curtain of a process where grief and fury reach breaking point – all to the tune of new interpretations of contemporary and classic tunes.
