How do you adapt ancient stories for a modern stage – and why do we keep returning to them?
In this workshop, award-winning playwright and Malthouse New Work Associate Keziah Warner guides participants through the art of adaptation: reimagining existing texts, themes, and characters to speak powerfully to contemporary audiences.
Using the Malthouse production of Troy as a springboard, you’ll explore how Homer’s epic has been reshaped for today, learn tools on how to approach adaptation, and generate your own scenes or monologues that adapt mythic or inherited narratives to make them your own and reflect the world around you.
