Join Malthouse Theatre's Casting Director, Rhys Velasquez and Director, Jessica Arthur for an audition and monologue intensive. This workshop is perfect for current students, recent graduates or seasoned performers who want to sharpen their process and gain insights into auditioning and casting for theatre.
The first part of the workshop will include a practical exercise in how to prepare and approach a monologue for an audition. All participants are invited to bring a monologue (of any genre or style) with them to partake in preparing a monologue – please bring something to write with. Participants willing to have their monologue workshopped on the floor in front of the group can express their interest at the time of booking. Jess and Rhys will select two pieces to workshop with consenting participants.
In the second half, Jess and Rhys will share insights and answer questions about the casting process for Malthouse Theatre and their experiences working outside of the company; tips for general auditions, self-taping for theatre and ways to remain discoverable and on the radar of casting directors and companies.
