BIG THICK ENERGY: TAKING UP SPACE
Big Thick Energy is the brainchild of performance artist and booty manipulator Demon Derriere and has been curated to promote body positivity and liberation through movement, creativity and community.
Our variety festival features skill sharing workshops, local artisan markets and two evenings of high energy entertainment with thick, curvy performance artists breaking stereotypes and celebrating self-love. Featuring Burlesque, Drag, Vogue, Poetry Slam, Freak Show and Music, Big Thick Energy is a safe inclusive space for IBPOC and LGBTQIA+ bodies.
Join us to express yourself in a safe, inclusive and accessible space where judgement, stereotypes and discrimination are abolished, and you can celebrate the skin you’re in.

LOCAL ARTISAN MARKETS: RUN BY A PLUS MARKETS
A Plus Market is thrilled to partner with the legends at Big Thick Energy to present a curated market of fierce fat brands across two days at The Malthouse.
A Plus Market is a size-inclusive roving fashion market, offering an accessible space for plus size people to shop from sustainable local brands and break the fast fashion cycle. With plus size people often shut out of the mainstream fashion industry, A Plus creates an environment where everyone is welcome to take up space.

ABOUT MOS
Malthouse Outdoor Stage is a general admission venue with standing areas and seating available at shared tables. We recommend arriving early to find a space that’s right for you. The Malthouse Bar is open before and during the show, and food is available from The Malthouse Cafe and rotating food trucks.
We perform in all weather conditions, so long as it's safe for the performers and for you. Melbourne's weather can change all the time—we recommend bringing a raincoat, wearing waterproof shoes, and bringing a small umbrella just in case. In the event that the performance is cancelled, we will contact you to inform you the next steps. Please note the seating area is not covered.

The Malthouse Outdoor Stage main auditorium is accessible via flat entry and is suitable for wheelchair and mobility device users. The sunken front of stage area called the ‘pit’ is accessed via three stairs only and is not suitable for wheelchair or mobility device users.
