MALTHOUSE THEATRE TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Current as of Thursday, 15 October.

Malthouse Theatre is temporarily closed to the public until further notice.
This decision has been made following a directive from Federal and State Government health authorities to cease large public gatherings to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

We are still safely working behind the scenes at home to ensure we can resume performances as soon as it is safe and responsible to do so. The truth is, we don't know how this situation will unfold, but we're doing everything we can to bring theatre back to the stage.

WHAT ABOUT THE BUILDING?

The Malthouse's doors are now open. MALT Kitchen & Pantry is open from 8am – 2pm for takeaway only serving coffee and tea, plus delicious artisan sandwiches, bagels and freshly baked treats.

We respectfully ask that you do not use any of the public spaces within the venue until further notice.

For the health and safety of others, please do not enter The Malthouse if you are experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms listed here. Please stay home and get tested.

WHAT ABOUT MY TICKETS?

Our limited Box Office team is safely working from home to manually process orders and make sure ticket holders of cancelled Season 2020 performances receive refunds. This is no small task and currently the team is experiencing delays of up to four weeks. Please refrain from emailing again to check on your request, as we are working through existing emails.

After careful consideration and assessment of the government's social distancing regulations to suppress the transmission of COVID-19, we have made the sad decision not to proceed with the productions scheduled in Season 2020, with the exception of Loaded which will be presented as an immersive four-part audio experience. As of today, the situation for Season 2020 productions is as follows:

Grey Arias: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
Macbeth (This Ignorant Present): Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
K-BOX: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
Is This A Room: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
Do not go gentle...: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
The Return: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
Prima Facie: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
Go To Hell: Performances are not going ahead and refunds are completed.
Loaded: Performances on stage are not going ahead. It will be available as an immersive audio experience to current ticket holders on Monday, 19 October and on sale to the public from Friday, 30 October

For current Loaded ticket holders who have chosen to receive a full refund—refunds will be returned to the credit card used to place the original order. If you paid by cash or EFTPOS our Box Office team will contact you to arrange the refund. If you have purchased multiple tickets to Loaded, you will receive the equivalent number of download codes for the Loaded audio experience. We ask that you please forward these to your party members. Please note that we are unable to issue partial refunds if you have purchased multiple tickets.

The Box Office is not available for contact by phone, and we ask for everyone’s patience, kindness, and understanding.

HOW CAN I HELP?

If you want to help, and support the artists and arts workers that bring theatre to our stages, please consider donating what you can. Your donations at this critical time ensure we have a future and can keep creating while our doors are closed.

MAKE A DONATION TO SUPPORT THE ARTS

We’re encouraged by the tenacious spirit of the arts community. Malthouse Theatre has always been a home for entertainment and discussion, and we will do everything we can to continue contributing to our vibrant artistic city over the coming months.

Please be kind and take care of yourselves and each other.

Stay safe
