Imagine the stage as a space of a dream, a place of possibility.
An actor standing barefoot on stage, her only prop a rock and the
mask of her
performance.
After a sell-out season earlier this year, Malthouse
Theatre presents
the mesmerising Margaret Cameron in the proscenium.
the proscenium is a meditation on an interior landscape of memory,
desire and
the watchful gaze of childhood. Here the imagination itself is a theatre
and
thinking is a kind of performance. Cameron, who has a long and rich
history
as a theatremaker including the landmark works Things Calypso Wanted
to Say!
and Knowledge and Melancholy, continues her explorations
of the solo female
performer in this strikingly personal yet engaging work, an impression
reinforced
by the astounding mix of vulnerability and forceful presence that
she achieves.
In this fascinating undertaking, the audience is invited to enter
the mysterious world of the self and to witness the action of thought
in its most elemental form. |
