Welcome to Sanctuary Vale: where no-one can hear your screams - in fact,
where turning into a giant bug is no excuse for missing the next mortgage
payment. In Ben Ellis’ darkly hilarious adaptation of Franz Kafka’s prophetic tale,
the family is the new totalitarian state—a microcosmic version of a world where
the individual is pitted against a system gone mad. Our hapless hero Gregor
must juggle the well-being of family and bank balance while negotiating his new
sets of legs and a mother in denial.

In this premiere co-production by Malthouse Theatre and Sydney Theatre
Company's Blueprints, Kafka’s vision is brought to vivid life in Simpsons-style
satire with a nasty sting in its tail.
