Tense Dave bursts with seductively charged images of obsession, isolation,
manipulation and collision. As we channel-surf through the lives of five weird
and wonderful strangers, Dave crashes their worlds, revealing the details,
the habits and the private moments under a spotlight of unexpected scrutiny.

A world in motion, Tense Dave is a wild display of the human psyche created
by three of Melbourne’s most continually surprising theatrical visionaries:
Lucy Guerin, Michael Kantor and Gideon Obarzanek, Artistic Directors of
three companies at the forefront of Australian contemporary performance,
Lucy Guerin Inc, Malthouse Theatre and Chunky Move.

ASSAULT ON THE WORLD

Tense Dave’s initial assault on the world culminated in 2005 when it was
awarded a Bessie (the equivalent of a Tony for dance) for Outstanding
Choreography/Creation during its New York season. Tense Dave was a
smash hit during the 2003 Melbourne International Arts Festival and
subsequently toured throughout Australia and the United States.
