From the North, he glimpsed a great column of dust rising. Again, the stink of carrion fresh from battle had saturated his clothes, a stench that would remain in them ever after. He was bone tired, sick of war, sick of its futility, sick of its pointless waste. It surrounded him. The screams and moans of the dead and the dying rang in his ears; their blood stained his mail and tunic. Nothing could tear his eyes, his mind away…
until now!
Yes The Black Lung has come roaring from the bloodstained fields of Asgard, screeching in on the backs of harpies, to hurl blood and semen everywhere!!
The Black Lung began as a tumour, nothing more, but festering rapidly in Collingwood’s bowels, this fluttering butterfly burst from its young melanoma into a raging cancerous dragon, claiming multiple awards from the Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals Richard Watts of 3RRR shrieked; “Genius! Sheer bloody genius!”
For three months The Black Lung will tear the Tower Theatre asunder, developing and presenting their monstrous, manic and metatheatrical first work Avast and creating the all-new prequel, Avast II: The Welshman Cometh. Anticlimactic, brutal, and not just a little unsettling, these utterly enthralling creations are offered with a dedication to the spontaneity and actuality of theatre.
Avast is a nautical word meaning “stop, or desist”, and this fact will plague your mind as you endure this merciless spectacle in two parts. A relentless assault on the senses, replete with excretes, cuss words and senseless boasting. Sound like a nice
night in the theatre…?
