If you mess with the Ancient Greeks, beware a little blood.

.
In the charnel house of Greek legend one room is forever reserved for that most ferocious of tales – that of Thyestes, the deposed king whose sons were slaughtered and served as a feast to their unwitting father.

Following the extraordinary success of The Black Lung’s Avast series and My Darling Patricia’s Africa, in 2010 Malthouse Theatre extends its Tower Theatre, Company in Residence program to The Hayloft Project.

Treating mythological atrocity as contemporary reality, The Hayloft Project's retelling of this Greco-Roman epic unfolds as a series of domestic scenes exploring the mundanity of violence. Terrifyingly observed, savagely comic and ultimately heartrending, Thyestes is a modern journey through the darkest days of history. Happy feasting!
