PERFORMING ARTS AWARDS

CMS added image

The Performing Arts Awards, an initiative introduced in 2006, aim to encourage the continuing practice, enjoyment and appreciation of performing arts among young people.

The Awards are an important way of valuing the vital role that performing arts have in the overall education of young people. Studying and experiencing theatre provides a direct connection and engagement with issues and questions about oneself, others and the greater world community.

In late September each year the Education Program team selects up to 20 schools across Melbourne metropolitan and regional Victoria that have had some connection with the Education program at Malthouse Theatre. The Heads of Drama or Performing Arts in these schools are asked to nominate a student whom they believe has been outstanding in performance or backstage or has inspired others in relation to performing arts.

The Award

Each award recipient receives a special awards certificate and a double subscription to Season One at the Malthouse Theatre for the following year. Winners are invited to attend a range of functions across the year, including launches, seminars and an opportunity to meet with Artistic Director, Michael Kantor.
