ENSEMBLE GOMBERT 2010 Subscription Concerts

Welcome to Ensemble Gombert's sixteenth annual subscription series.

2 June 2010 marks the 20th anniversary of Ensemble Gombert’s first performance. We’ll celebrate that a couple of weeks early in Concert 3, a repeat of a program we’ve done in the past, Hommage à Gombert, which, incidentally, includes Monteverdi’s Missa In illo tempore, published exactly 400 years ago in 1610. A further three programs are devoted exclusively to the Renaissance, while our opening program of the year celebrates two other centenaries — the bicentenary of Robert Schumann’s birth in 1810 and the centenary of Samuel Barber’s birth in 1910 — alongside the sesquicentenary of the first motets of Brahms, composed in 1860.
