A MARTYRED SAINT. A TALKING MOTH. A MISSION TO REDEEM OUR SINS.

Sebastian is a terminally unpopular fifteen-year-old suburban kid, with an overactive imagination and an obsession with anime and death. His only friend, Claryssa, is an emo Wiccan art-freak barely one rung higher than Sebastian on the social ladder.

What starts as just another night drinking down at the cricket nets soon gives way to an ecstatic vision that leaves Sebastian unconscious, their friendship left in ruin. The next morning, he wakes up with a mysterious moth in a jar by his bed, and a calling to save the souls of all humankind. And so begins the Passion of Sebastian…

Commissioned by Malthouse Theatre and Arena Theatre Company, Moth is a funny, highly charged and emotionally engaging play from Declan Greene, one of Melbourne’s most anticipated young playwrights, with a cast including Black Lung Theatre’s Dylan Young, as Sebastian.

Following their award winning production, Goodbye Vaudeville Charlie Mudd, director Chris Kohn and designer Jonathon Oxlade bring their thrilling theatrical vision to the much loved Tower Theatre.

Please note: Moth is suitable for audiences aged 15 years and over. We also wish to draw your attention to the change of time for a preview performance. The performance originally scheduled for Friday May 14 at 1pm, has now changed to Saturday May 15th at 2pm.
