A prompt inspires an idea and incites an action. A prompt can be a helpful reminder. And a prompt is always timely.

In 2012, we want you to think about Malthouse Theatre’s education program as a Prompt.

As actors, directors, designers, singers, dancers and musicians we are prompted everyday by our instinct and imagination. Our curiosity prompts us to explore an idea; we are prompted to test it, research it and develop it. We are prompted in a certain direction by our collaborators and prompted by the appreciation of an audience. Occasionally, we call for a prompt when we don’t know what’s coming next! Prompting is always about what helps us get to the next stage.

Whether you’re a young artist in school, a student, an educator or teacher-practitioner, Prompt is designed to offer you the resources and stimuli that empower you to get to the next level, from wherever you are.

Next year also offers breadth. Malthouse Theatre ventures above and beyond DRAMA and THEATRE STUDIES. In 2012 our mainstage season offers strong connections in VCE studies across the curriculum including ENGLISH, SPANISH, CLASSICS, MUSIC, DANCE and LITERATURE.

Malthouse aims to be your prompt: to incite you and your students to explore the depth and breadth of our theatre’s possibilities.
